Luke Emmet presents at SafeComp 2025

We are pleased to share that our Principal Consultant – Safety Engineer Luke Emmet recently presented at SafeComp 2025, delivering his talk: “Using assurance cases to support type approval and regulatory compliance in the automotive sector.”

As automotive regulations become increasingly complex and outcome-driven – especially with the rise of connected and autonomous vehicles – manufacturers need more effective ways to demonstrate that safety risks are acceptably managed. Traditional approaches, often reliant on fragmented documentation and manual reviews, can struggle to deliver a clear, credible case, resulting in delays and inconsistent communication with regulators.

In his talk, Luke introduced assurance cases as a compelling solution: a structured, transparent, and scalable method for demonstrating compliance and building trust. By breaking down high-level claims into logical arguments supported by associated evidence, assurance cases help to ensure that every aspect of the system is considered holistically and that necessary safety, security and reliability outcomes are achieved.

Luke also illustrated the practical application of assurance cases through a client case study, where this approach is being used to support a commercial automotive manufacturer in demonstrating compliance with the Euro 7 emissions regulation. By structuring compliance evidence into a clear, goal-based argument, we are helping the client to navigate complex regulatory requirements with greater clarity, transparency, and confidence.

The assurance case is being developed and actively maintained within our dedicated software platform ASCE – an intuitive, all-in-one solution for the creation, visualisation, evidencing, and continuous management of assurance cases.
