Reaims: Process Evaluation
One aspect of Reaims with which we are closely involved is the development of a method for the integrated engineering and human factors dependability
analysis of software engineering processes. The analysis has two interlocking phases:
- An analysis of the process as if it were implemented by a machine. This is by means of classical safety analysis, based on a generalisation
of Hazard and Operability Studies, adapted for different viewpoints depending on the role or dependability attribute in question.
- An application of human factors and social sciences inspired analysis to assess vulnerabilities and defences at an individual, group and
organisational level, using the results of the classical mechanistic analysis to scope the investigation. This is concerned with the identification
of generic vulnerabilities to failure for process components whose function is executed by a person or a group of people.
