Download ASCE plugins

Plugins marked with the padlock padlock are only available for customers only (as opposed to those using the evaluation version). If you are a customer, please contact us for the password to our secure file download area.

Please note:

  • plugins cannot be used with the Professional version of ASCE.
  • the plugins listed below all require the latest, 3.5.30 version of ASCE, which can be downloaded here

Installation

Plugins are posted on this site as zip files. Once you have downloaded and unzipped the file, you will see either a file whose name ends in .exe or .xml (as well, perhaps, as other documents such as a user manual).

Files ending in .exe: automatic installer
Simply double-click the file to run.
Files ending in .xml: manual installer
Copy the file into your user profile plugin folder and restart ASCE.

The first time you run the plugin, you will see a dialogue warning you that a new plugin has been detected, and prompting you to accept it. Click "Accept" to load the new plugin. Note that this dialogue has a checkbox which you can use to suppress warnings on subsequent occasions.

Linking to PDFs

Released 18th November 2008

For times when you need to reference material from PDFs, this plugin provides you with two choices:

  1. Create a link to a PDF file, specifying the page number you'd like the file to open at when you click on the link
  2. Extract text from a PDF file and embed it into your node text as a Dynamic Narrative Region (DNR). Note that extracts are formatted a plain text only. As with all ASCE DNRs, changes to the remote "source" file can be easily detected and viewed.

Note: this plugin has a standalone installer. Unzip the downloaded file and double click to install.

Embedded issues

Released 18th Nov 2008

Too many knots in your handkerchief? Use this plugin to embed tags (text snippets) inside your node narrative to flag issues that you need to keep track of, e.g, limitations, assumptions, risks, or to do actions.

The plugin can then generate a summary table, collating all these tags, and embed it into your node narrative. The result: an overview of all your current outstanding issues, which, being a DNR (Dynamic Narrative Region), will update as each issue is closed off. As well as querying the current file, this plugin is equally capable of extracting issues from external ASCE files, allowing you to track and manage dependencies between a set of related safety cases.

  2. Package your ASCE network and all the files it links to, for taking a snapshot of your safety case and all the supporting evidence, archiving, zipping up for email, or burning to CD
